President Trump Invites Families of Shot National Guard Members to the White House
President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president addressed the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Public Support
Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist public safety in Washington DC.
Remembering the Soldier
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Measures and Policy Revisions
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.
The incident prompted the government to halt asylum applications and cease issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
