Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to manage Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to his interviewer: “I said I won't manage any other side in England. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to draw him back to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the notion it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, along with the consequences at the club. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision together with his sibling in July.
“How do you replace a person like him? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the squad without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
