Followers Demand Arrest of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are demanding that a person who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of attendees had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it started.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the popular stage production Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a spin-off of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, earning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
