England Coach Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi seamer is only likely to be present for the first Test because of his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a role as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as the English squad for the first of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
English bowling legend Broad had stated the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a bad Aussie side," he said.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, before England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on this Saturday.
